Entopia, located within sight of the Teluk Bahang Dam in Penang, is more than just another butterfly farm. Entopia aspire to reconnect the public with the Nature and is to date the largest classroom of nature where butterflies and insects are free to come out and play.
Caring for the environment had been one of the prominent pillars in our Setia Caring School Programme this year, therefore we just could not miss out the chance to let our students in Penang get reconnect with the nature.
Our students from SJKT Tasek Permai, SJKC Aik Hua and SK Batu Ferringhi together with their teachers spent half a day in Entopia learning more about insects and reptilians. Started with a classroom session, the students got to learn better about the different types of insects, butterflies and reptiles. Pop quizzes, show & tell and video presentations were utilized during the session to ensure the students’ learning. The facilitator from Entopia even brought out their little friends to interact with the students.
After our group photo session, the teachers and students continued their learning journey to the outdoor Natureland where butterflies and insects are free to fly in and out. Many of our students were excited to see butterflies up close, and of course no one can resist not getting the phones out and snapping away in the beautiful garden.
Later on, the group went into The Cocoon indoor discovery centre. With over 150 species of flora and fauna are being showcased throughout Entopia’s entire exhibition, the teachers were all caught up in explaining to their students about the exhibition.
These standard six students were really impressed by all that they had seen and learn by the end of the journey.
