In partnership with S P Setia Berhad Group Landscape team and Urban Hijau (a social enterprise specialising in permaculture), the S P Setia Foundation is embarking on a three-stage green journey to build hibiscus gardens in the three adopted schools under the Setia Caring School Programme (SCSP) by early 2016.
The Foundation brought Setia volunteers and their family members together as well as friends from Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Hulu Kelang for the second stage of the green journey, which is the seedling planting activity at Urban Hijau. Hibiscus was chosen as it symbolises the unity of Malaysians and it also reflects one of the core objectives of SCSP which is to foster unity among the community.
During the activity, the volunteers had an enriching and educational experience on learning how to plant seedlings and hibiscus cuttings, how to turn mushrooms into decomposers, and how to build a community garden.
