Adrenaline rushing, heart pumping fast, sweating under the sun- that is us at Setia Foundation spent our Saturday with 100 of our students from SK Batu Ferringhi, SJKC Aik Hua and SJK(T) Tasek Permai in Penang. Collaborating with Design For Learning, a themed sports day "Sports Day For All: Building A Better Malaysia" saw the students working together in teams to complete the exciting activities planned.
Our partner, Design For Learning (DFL), an educational design studio that works on improving learning and teaching experiences for young children, prepares all the children involved with specially-designed sports activities that are based on three essential elements namely; educational, inclusiveness and learn by play. More than 30 special children from SJKC Aik Hua joined in the event which saw more than 40 volunteers coming together to assist.
One signature activity by Design For Learning that was greatly enjoyed by not only our students but also our friendly volunteers of Setia Property North is the Cardboard City- where students are tasked to remake a signature building of Malaysia using cardboard blocks. In the end, the Blue Team was chosen as the "Most Creative Team" by the panel judges.
Focusing on details, the team in DFL also put in a lot of thoughts in preparing the medals and souvenirs for our students. A medal engraved with the inspiring words "I am a winner" was given to every student for their active participation in Sports Day.
